Kola Onaolapo was born on 27th July 1957 at Erin Ile, Kwara State, Nigeria. He attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria and graduated with a Bachelors Degree with honours in Chemistry in 1982.
He founded the Abundant Life Gospel Church Inc.  in August 1984 at Ilorin, Kwara State. At inception, the church started with 5 members in Bishop Smith Primary School Ilorin in a classroom. But within the period of three months, the facility being used could no longer contain the crowd that became members of the Church.  
Consequently, the church secured a bigger facility – the old Midland Stores - and moved into it for a few months. Shortly after the relocation, the church procured a property (four plots of land) at Oko-Erin in Ilorin and to God's glory, a beautiful Cathedral capable of seating 1500 worshippers was erected. As at today there are 15 branches of this great ministry.
The Lagos church subsequently started at Airport Hotel with two people on the first Sunday of November 1991. The headquarters of the church, located at 69, Iju Road in Agege is sitting on 8.2 acres of land on which a Cathedral capable of seating 25,000 worshippers is currently being built. The Lagos church has grown to include several branches.
